From Lloyd Alexander's Chronicles of Prydain, The Book of Three. Taran takes advantage of Dallben's supposed nap to try to get a peek inside the Book of Three. An act that will have nasty consequences.

Jason: No, no one fucks about with you if you're carrying a big heavy stick.
Great stuff! Good highlights.

nice painting skills, looks professional. i like the scene here.
This is awesome! I can't believe it's got so few faves. It's such a crying shame! :( I love the expressiveness of this piece. The boy's eyes and clenched mouth really bring across that feeling of needing to be stealthy. The storytelling's great, and it's so well executed! :D Kudos!!

My thanks to you! For the fave and the compliments.

I think the subject matter works against me, in that a lot of people kind of gloss over illustrative work from unfamiliar stories and gravitate to their own interests, and Prydain is not very well-known these days. It's natural. But I do appreciate when someone who doesn't know the story is able to "get into" a picture anyway - it tells me I've succeeded in conveying something of the narrative.
